How to apply?

​ Benefits of Being a WISE Community Doula:

Be supported by a collective of Doulas who are passionate about birth and providing quality support.

Opportunities to build your organizational and leadership skills.

Practical and informational support in working towards your certification.
To be eligible to become a WISE Community Doula:
-
Must attend 3 day WISE Community Doula training.

Attendance of a breastfeeding course/ training is preferred, but not required.

100% commitment: Our organization depends entirely on our Doulas. You must be willing to provide services for at least 1 low-income families (per month) in Charlotte, NC and surrounding areas.

You must have an interest in supporting others through the child birth continuum.

Be able to maintain confidentiality

Be invited to a one-on-one or group interview

Must be willing to fill out all required paperwork, including evaluation of the program.
As a WISE Community Doula, you:

Must be willing to do 2 prenatal visits, be on call for up to 4 weeks each birth, attend the birth from once the client calls until after the birth of the baby, assist with breastfeeding, and do 1-2 postpartum visits.

Will be matched with an experienced mentor to help you every step of the way.

Will be provided tools to use during prenatal and postpartum visits.

As a WISE Community Doula, you not:

Diagnosis or treat medical concerns

Make decisions on your client’s behalf

Promise any specific outcomes
